The Best In Reggae Rock
New Kingston just kicked off their "Kingston City" tour and I got to spend some time talking to them about their new album and tour.
Your new tour with Arise Roots and Kimie Miner started March 17th. What are you most looking forward to on this tour?
NK: We're looking forward to seeing our fans' reaction to our show. Also, how they react to our new music. We can't wait to see Arise Roots and Kimie Miner's show for real. Come out to the show and say "What's up?" if you see any of us because we want to enjoy the show and the night with you as well! We are looking forward to performing our music and spreading the messages in our music!
What inspires your music/songwriting?
NK: Anything and everything inspires our music. We read, we watch the news, we listen to all kinds of music and different genres; all of these things and others are what influence what we write about.
Your new album, Kingston City, debuted at #1 on the Billboard reggae chart. What was the best part about making this album?
NK: It's a good feeling when your hard work and efforts get recognition. Our new album drew on strengths and relationships that span decades. To have it come together with the help of our management, Easy Star, and all of our supporters; makes us feel blessed.
What is the message you would like to come accross through your music?
NK: Each of our songs have their own message, but for the most part it's about uplifting everyone and being treated fairly in life. We also talk about love and enjoying life or living it to the fullest. What we want people to walk away with is just that-life was made for living and to live life you have to live a little. Go out and be a human with humanity.
New Kingston's sound has a lot of R&B influence. Can you describe a bit more about your sound?
NK: We listen to so many different types of music between us but reggae is and always will be the boss. We take from all of these influences, not forcefully, but naturally; because that's what we listen to. Then, this mixture is exactly what you get from New Kingston.
What is next for New Kingston after the "Kingston City" tour?
NK: Future tours, video releases, more music, and more collaborating with other artists in all genres. We are ready to work and continue to give our growing fan base new music and New Kingston Content.
Many thanks for New Kingston for taking time out of their busy schedule to talk to me. Make sure you check out them on their new tour NOW! Dates listed below:
